Kano : Ganduje-led APC drags Shekarau, Barau, others to IGP

The crisis rocking the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) appears to be far from over as party’s executive in the state loyal to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has written a petition to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over the activities of Senator Ibrahim Shekarau’s led faction.

In the petition, signed by Senator, representing Kano South senatorial district, Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya and 15 other federal and state lawmakers, as well as some Local Governments chairmen, the Kano APC asked the IGP to investigate the affected politicians and prosecute them if found wanting.

Those listed in the petition are Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Barau Jibrin, Nasiru Abduwa, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Shaaban Sharada, Haruna Isa Dederi and Ahmadu Haruna Danzago. They are often referred to as G7.

In the petition, dated December 6, the Ganduje-led APC accused the Shekarau faction for allegedly causing violence, sponsoring public uprising, instigation of thuggery, breach of peace, civil unrest and mayhem in Kano state.

The Kano APC also alleged that the Shekarau’s faction procured armed thugs used in an attempt to violently take over the party secretariat and its machineries on November 30 on the claim that a high court in Abuja had passed judgement in their favour.

“The aforementioned group has lost face with the masses and decided to embark on criminal activities aimed at throwing the entire Kano state into chaotic and violently disruptive state.

“They claim that a High Court in Abuja had delivered a judgement in their favour.

“They were aware that the judgement was in relation to the ward congresses only. The said judgement is a subject of appeal, it has already been filed,” the petition said.

They further claimed that the group sponsored thugs shouting “Sai Shekarau, sai Danzago.

“The active of these frustrated politicians are not unconnected with their total rejection by the masses during the concluded Ward, Local Government and State congresses.

” Instead of channeling their grievances through Civilized means, they resorted to violence and illegal rallies, even as they are aware that the ban on political rallies had not been lifted,” they claimed.”

The APC therefore called on the IGP,Usman Baba, to thoroughly investigate the matter in order to forestall future reoccurtence.

It would be recalled that the G7 group had earlier petitioned the IGP accusing the some APC members for vandalising the office of Sen. Barau Jibrin (APC-Kano North).
