Kano Gov. bids farewell to 1st batch of foreign scholarship beneficiaries

The Kano State Government has bid farewell to the first batch of 150 out of 1,001 foreign scholarship beneficiaries who departed to India on Friday, October 20, 2023.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who addressed the beneficiaries at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, urged them to protect the interest of Kano State and their parents by concentrating on their studies to justify the huge financial commitments made for the scheme.

“I am pleased with the smooth conduct of the exercise from its inception to the point of departure,” the Governor said, acknowledging the roles played by all the stakeholders in making the exercise a success.

He added that the initiator of the programme, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has sowed a seed of monumental human capital development where skilled manpower is produced for the nation and beyond.

Senator Kwankwaso, who was also at the airport to bid farewell to the students, tasked them to be good ambassadors of Kano, Nigeria, and the Kwankwasiyya movement wherever they found themselves.

He also urged them to remain helpful to one another during their stay in the overseas countries.

Kwankwaso maintained that the previous exercise has yielded positive results and expressed hope that the resumption of the foreign postgraduate scheme will produce such human resources needed for the state and the nation in general.
