Kano State Government has commenced a three-day intensive training for its top officials, focusing on leadership, anti-corruption strategies, and ethical values in governance.
The workshop, holding in Kaduna from Friday to Sunday, is designed for commissioners, special advisers, director generals, and permanent secretaries in the state.
Declaring the programme open on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Governor Comr. Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo said the training is a strategic investment in the foundation of governance in Kano State.
He noted that corruption is more than an economic crime, describing it as a betrayal of trust, a distortion of values, and an assault on society.
According to him, Governor Yusuf’s administration is committed to people-centred, transparent, and accountable governance. “This workshop is not just another training exercise, but a platform to strengthen leadership, service delivery, and integrity in public service,” he stated.
The Deputy Governor charged participants to translate the lessons into new ways of thinking, acting, and serving, stressing the need for resilient institutions that will outlive individuals and ensure continuity in governance.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Umar Farouk Ibrahim, represented by the Head of Civil Service, Alh. Abdullahi Musa, said the programme aims to strengthen the pillars of governance in Kano.
He described corruption as the greatest obstacle to good governance and social justice.
“Corruption weakens institutions, disrupts service delivery, deprives the state of progress, and denies citizens justice by eroding public trust in governance,” he warned.
He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to uplift Kano State and ensure its growth as a model of integrity-driven governance.
