Kano NLC protests economic hardships, urges govt action

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kano State held a peaceful protest on Tuesday, lamenting the current economic hardships in the country.

During the event,Alhaji Kabiru Inuwa, the NLC chairman in Kano, emphasized the union’s commitment to the people’s well-being.

Inuwa expressed confidence in the NLC’s cause, adding that “NLC is for the interest of the people.”

He further stressed the importance of listening to the people’s voice aligning the president with democratic principles.

“We know that president Bola Tinubu is a Democrat and democracy is listening to the people.

“We are not against him. He is our president, we respect him but let him allow the poor to breathe.”

The chairman decried the economic hardships being faced by the people.

He explained that the protest was not a personal attack but a call for action to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.

He called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State to urge the president to help the masses.

Receiving the union leaders, the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, said,: “We have received your letter and the governor will handover the letter to Mr. President and something will be done to attend to your request.”

Musa commended the peaceful conduct of the protest and also lauded the security agencies for maintaining law and order all through the protest.

Prime Time News reports that the protest recorded a low turnout of residents, and heavy security was mounted in strategic locations in the state capital while the demonstration lasted.
