The Kano State Government, through the Acting Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Hon. Hamza Safiyanu Kachako, has issued a decisive three-game ultimatum to the management and technical crew of Kano Pillars Football Club.
The ultimatum which was contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen on Friday by the Ag. Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Hon. Hamza Kachako, comes in response to the team’s recent poor form in the ongoing 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Affectionately known as the “Sai Masu Gida,” Kano Pillars suffered a setback in their last outing, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against Bendel Insurance of Benin. Prior to this loss, the team endured consecutive defeats, including a 1-2 home loss to Shooting Stars and a humiliating 5-0 defeat against Enyimba International.
The Commissioner emphasized the unwavering commitment of the state government, under the leadership of His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, to support Kano Pillars in their quest for success. However, he made it clear that decisive action must be taken to reverse the team’s fortunes, stating that the government will not stand idly by while the beloved Kano team falters.
The management and technical crew of Kano Pillars have been tasked with turning things around in the next three crucial games, commencing with the upcoming match against struggling Gombe United on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano. This will be followed by an away fixture against former champions Akwa United and a home encounter against Doma United of Gombe.
Currently occupying the 7th position on the Nigeria Premier Football League table with 41 points from 30 matches, Kano Pillars are urged to secure maximum points in the upcoming fixtures to rejuvenate their season.
Under the leadership of Hon. Kachako, serving as the Commissioner of Sports, the Ministry has generously allocated the necessary funds for Kano Pillars FC to complete its remaining matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League. This support comes with the approval of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, demonstrating a commitment to the advancement of sports within the state.
Hon. Kachako expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for his unwavering support of the team and called upon the loyal fans to continue rallying behind Kano Pillars during this critical period.
