Kano Police arrests 27 for armed robbery, receiving stolen properties

Kano State Police Command says its operatives have successfully arrested Twenty-Seven (27) suspects for offences of armed robbery and receiving stolen properties between 6th and 7th of May 2023.

The Command’s Spokesperson, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement issued to PRIME TIME NEWS on Monday, stated the arrest was part of the Commands’ clearance operation in line with the directives of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel.

Kiyawa disclosed that the Armed Robbers were using dangerous weapons such as knives, cutlasses and other sharp objects to attack innocent people and rob them of their valuables particularly along BUK road, Hadejia road, Zoo road, Haj camp junction, etc., by use of Tricycles and Motorcycles.

The Spokesperson revealed that Twenty-Eight (28) Mobile Phones, Two (2) Tricycles, Three (3) Motorcycles, Eighteen (18) Mobile Phone Batteries and other dangerous weapons were recovered from them.

“All suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation” he noted.

The Commissioner of Police has further directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to deal ruthlessly with criminals, ensure robust Community Policing engagements, sustained intelligence gathering and round-the-clock visibility patrols.

“He also appreciates the good people of the State for their Prayers, support, encouragement, understanding and cooperation” the Spokesperson emphasized.
