Kano Police Command Investigates Killing Of Woman,6 Children

The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a woman, Fatima Abubakar,and her six children at Dorayin Charanchi quarters in Kano Municipal Local Government Area on Friday.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command,CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the Commissioner of Police had directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ACP Wada Jarma, to lead a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
CSP Kiyawa said the investigation is aimed at identifying and apprehending those responsible for the heinous act.
He said the Command received a distress call at about 12:10 p.m. on the fateful day, alerting it to a violent invasion of the residence of one Haruna Bashir by unknown hoodlums who broke into the house and brutally attacked the occupants, identified as Fatima Abubakar, aged 35, and her six children.
According to him, the victims were said to have been assaulted with dangerous weapons thereby sustaining fatal injuries.
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, immediately deployed a tactical police team to the scene.
“The team was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani,”the police spokesman said.
He said the victims were evacuated and rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel confirmed them dead.
“The Kano State Police Command has extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the residents of Dorayi Charanchi, and the entire people of Kano State, while assuring the public of its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining security.
“The Command also urges residents to remain calm and continue to support the police with credible information that could assist ongoing investigations,” the statement added.
