The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has organized an annual ICT quiz for students of secondary schools in Kano state.
The senior program officer CITAD Malam Isah Garba explained that the quiz is an annual event organized by the center for the last twenty years.
He explained that, the objective is to bridge the digital gap in the country to enable students pursue careers in ICT.
Malam Isah pointed out that the program also aims to draw the attention of government and school proprietors to provide ICT infrastructure in schools.
He emphasized the need for state governments especially in the northern part of the country to take ownership of the ICT quiz to achieve the desired objectives.
Chairman of the occasion, who doubles as the managing director intersystems institute of information technology IIT, Sagir Muhammad maintained that IIT partnered with CITAD to organize the ICT Quiz.
He noted that the ICT quiz was popularized to make people aware of the benefits of information communication technology.
The chairman said the central idea is to catch them young,saying that they had organized the quiz for secondary schools to make them aware of the essence of ICT in their lives.
Sani Bello from Science College Dawakin Kudu,emerged the overall winner of the 2024 CITAD ICT Quiz, winning a brand new laptop.
New Girls Science College, Kano, clinched the second position while Government Science Technical College Warawa, came third.
The first second and third position received a brand new laptop,three in one desktop and a wireless address system.
Schools that participated include Government Technical College Warawa, Girls Science Technical College Dala,Army Day Secondary School, Governors College Kano and GTC Dambatta.
Others are Day Science College, Kano,New Girls Science and Technical, GTC Ungogo, Sani Bello Science College, Professor Hafsat A.U Ganduje, Mairo Tijjani Girls Science Collage, Dawakin Tofa Science College, Govt Technical College Kano, GGSS Dorayi Babba and Karama, First Ladies College Kano and GGSS Fatima Muhammad.
