Kano Youths Protest in Support of Police Commissioner

Youths in Kano were seen carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Governor, leave CP alone,” and other messages in support of the state’s Commissioner of Police.

The demonstrators, who identified themselves as indigenes of Kano State, took to the streets demanding that the CP be allowed to continue his duties.

Some of the banners read: “CP Kano Must Stay,” “Kano People Love CP,” and “Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Leave CP Alone.”

The protest was conducted peacefully.

It may be recalled that during his Independence Day speech on Wednesday, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf urged President Bola Tinubu to remove the Commissioner of Police, CP A.I. Bakori.

The governor’s call followed the absence of Kano State Police officers from the Independence Day celebration, which reportedly angered him.

However, the move has not been well-received by many residents of Kano, who have openly expressed their support for the Police Commissioner to continue his work in the state.
