KASHAM Partners with NITT to Promote Skills Development for Women, Youth

In its commitment to empowering women and youth, the Kasham Girls, Women, Youth and Community Development Initiative (KGWYCDI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria.

The signing ceremony, held yesterday at NITT’s headquarters, Zaria, Kaduna State, brought together stakeholders passionate about community development.

Speaking to journalists after the event, the Executive Director of KASHAM, Mrs. Dinatu Dama Maji, outlined the partnership’s primary goal which is geared towards building technical and vocational skills for women and girls across 19 northern states of the federation.

“The aim is to equip them with the capacity for self-reliance and eventually enable them to become employers of labour,” she said.

Mrs. Maji highlighted the benefits participants would gain, including access to advanced technological equipment, a conducive learning environment, and professional expertise to facilitate impactful sessions at NITT.

She further noted that the MoU serves as a gateway for collaborative efforts on future projects focused on community development.

According to Prime Time News, the MoU is a five-year partnership aimed at achieving the outlined objectives, with plans to reassess and potentially extend the alliance after evaluation.

On his part, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, Director General and Chief Executive of NITT, described the MoU as a vital step toward empowering youth to achieve their potential and self-reliance.

“Today marks a significant milestone in the advancement of your organization. We commend your efforts to develop young girls, enabling them to stand on their own and become employers of labour. NITT is fully committed to supporting this noble cause,” Dr. Farah said.

He also emphasized NITT’s focus on clean energy and environmental sustainability, noting that many of the Institute’s programs address global challenges such as clean environments, clean energy, and low emissions.

Beyond skills development and capacity building, Dr. Farah reaffirmed NITT’s readiness to collaborate with KGWYCDI on advocacy initiatives to achieve shared goals.
