Katsina: Ex-Senatorial Aspirant Calls on Gov. Radda to Aid Flood-Hit Mazoji Community

By Abdullahi Muhammad Sheka

A recent flood disaster in Mazoji Town, Katsina State, has displaced many households and washed away several farmlands, prompting Hon. Zaharaddeen Babba Mazoji, a former senatorial aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to appeal for urgent assistance to the victims.

During a media chat yesterday, Babba Mazoji stated that the people of Mazoji Town have experienced one of the worst flood disasters in the early stages of this year’s rainy season, with homes and vast sections of farmland destroyed.

He described the situation as “very sympathetic” due to the critical condition of the affected people, who are currently struggling to come to terms with the devastating impact of the flood.

Babba Mazoji emphasized that the victims, who are currently homeless, are lamenting the persistent flooding in the area caused by gully erosion.

“The recent heavy downpour, which lasted for several hours, also left some residents collapsed, and farm lands were destroyed, further exacerbating the already dire situation” he added.

He appealed to Governor Umar Dikko Radda, the Senator representing Funtua Zone, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Matazu/Musawa Federal Constituency, the member of the state house of assembly, and indigenes of Matazu and Mazoji, as well as well-wishers, to assist the victims.

According to Babba Mazoji, majority of the people affected by this disaster are currently struggling to have two daily meals, and assistance will bring relief to those who have lost their homes or had their roofs blown off by the windstorm.
