Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to cultivating a conducive environment for business and commercial activities, benefiting both the state and neighboring economies.
The Governor made this commitment during the launch of a three-day North-West tour by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) for stakeholder engagement in Katsina State.
Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Governor Yusuf described the engagement as timely, aligning with Kano’s ongoing policy reforms aimed at creating an investment-friendly environment in the region.
“To this end, our administration has signed executive orders on land investment, public-private partnerships, grievance redress mechanisms, and other areas to bolster investor confidence in Kano,” he emphasized.
Highlighting Kano’s status as the commercial hub of West and Sub-Saharan Africa, the Governor assured the state’s readiness to attract investment by offering new opportunities and partnering with PEBEC and other stakeholders to boost economic activities and attract both domestic and foreign investors.
In his remarks, the Governor of Katsina State, Malam Umaru Dikko Radda, emphasized that Katsina’s economic policies reflect a strong commitment to positioning the state as a prime destination for investors.
Represented by his Deputy, Malam Farouk Lawan Jobe, Governor Radda stressed the importance of coordinating initiatives to fortify the economy on all fronts and to ensure youth participation in the state’s economic growth.
He highlighted the efforts of his administration in promoting Katsina’s investment potential and noted that both the Economic Council and the Ease of Doing Business Council continue to address policy gaps and challenges to maintain the state’s competitiveness.
Governor Radda commended PEBEC’s significant reforms across the North-West, calling its impact invaluable as the region works toward a future defined by both its resources and its welcoming business environment.
Earlier, Dr. Toyin Bashir, Head of Reforms and Interventions at PEBEC, outlined the council’s mandate to improve Nigeria’s business landscape through federal and sub-national reforms.
Dr. Bashir highlighted Katsina State’s recent progress, with its rise from ninth to fifth place in the 2023 Ease of Doing Business rankings as a testament to its improved business climate.
She also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of North-West states with PEBEC in establishing small claims courts, benefiting Nigerians conducting business across the region.
