Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing its relationship with India to foster socio-economic development within the state.
This announcement was made in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature and made available to newsmen in Kano on Friday.
The statement highlighted remarks made by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during a meeting with the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Shri G. Balasubramanian, who visited the governor at Government House, Kano.
Governor Yusuf noted that; “India and Kano State have a long-standing relationship spanning several years in areas such as education, health, agriculture, technology, and trade.
He emphasized the need to strengthen these ties for the mutual benefit of both parties.
He expressed appreciation for India’s rapid advancements in education and healthcare, which have drawn hundreds of Kano indigenes to Indian universities and attracted medical tourists.
“We are committed to collaborating with the Indian government to complete our two mega power projects in Tiga and Challawa, which will revive moribund industries and promote socio-economic development in our state,” he assured.
In his remarks, the Indian High Commissioner, Mr. Shri G. Balasubramanian, mentioned that his visit was aimed at introducing himself and exploring collaborative efforts across various aspects of human development.
He praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for executing impactful projects and programs aimed at improving the living conditions of Kano’s populace.
“I commend the governor for his initiatives that aim to uplift the lives of the people of Kano State.”
