In a strategic move to strengthen the push for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Kano State, the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has conferred the honorary title of KSCHMA Ambassador on renowned health advocate and philanthropist, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, Chairman of the Aminu Magashi Garba (AMG) Foundation.
The prestigious recognition was presented during a high-level advocacy visit by KSCHMA in collaboration with the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) to the AMG Foundation headquarters in Kano.
The visit aimed to reinforce strategic partnerships with private and philanthropic stakeholders devoted to expanding healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, praised Dr. Garba as “a true champion of health equity,” noting that his contributions have made a lasting impact on the state’s healthcare landscape.
This is the first award KSCHMA is conferring since my appointment, and it is based purely on merit,” she said.
“Dr. Magashi has been a strong pillar in Kano’s health sector, even serving as chairman of the health transition committee. His dedication continues to inspire and influence policies aimed at inclusive healthcare.
In addition, Dr. Magashi pledged to sponsor the enrollment of 200 vulnerable individuals into the KSCHMA scheme, a gesture described as a bold act of leadership and philanthropy.
The KSCHMA Ambassadorial title recognizes Dr. Magashi’s role as an advocate, ally, and strategic partner in promoting inclusive healthcare for all,” Dr. Rahila added.
Moreover, The Ambassadorial designation positions Dr. Magashi as a key advocate and mobilizer for KSCHMA, with expectations that he will help drive awareness, policy engagement, and resource mobilization in support of the agency’s mission.
In his remarks, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba expressed deep appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to equitable healthcare:
