KSCHMA Organizes Workshop For Review Of Agency’s Communication Strategy

Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency with support of FCDO Lafiya project organised a 3-days workshop for the review of Agency’s communication strategy and implementation road map to expand coverage and effective implementation of the scheme.

The objectives of the workshop include understanding the concept of modern communication strategy, develop a road map for it implementation for the State Contributory Healthcare scheme and to create a feedback process on the developed KSCHMA communication strategy.

This is contained in a statement by Mohammad Nura Yusuf, Information Officer, KSCHMA on Wednesday

In his opening remark, the Honourable Commissioner for Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf represented by the Director General of Private Health Institutions Management Agency.(PHIMA) Professor Salisu Ahmad said that, the present administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf is passionate about improving the health of its citizenry, he also assured the participants that recommendations from this workshop would be fully implemented.

He formally declared the workshop opened and wished for successful deliberations.
On her part, the Executive Secretary KSCHMA Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar stated that the workshop would serve as a turning point for the Agency to expand the coverage of the scheme and improve health service utilization among the enrolees especially the vulnerable groups.

She expressed worry on the low level of service utilization among the beneficiaries of the scheme especially those enrolled in to the vulnerable and Basic Healthcare provision funds to access free healthcare services in the scheme’s equity programme.

She therefore urged the participants to concentrates and come up with strategies that would increase awareness and patronage of the scheme by the general public so as to achieve Universal Health Coverage to all residents of Kano State.

Also remarking, the Executive Secretary Kano Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) Dr. Fatima Zahraddeen described the workshop as timely and appreciated the participant and extended gratitude to FCDO Lafiya for supporting the Agency and Health sector in the State.

In their separate remarks, the representatives of State ministry of information and internal affairs, FCDO Lafiya, KanSLAM, CBOs and WDC believed that the workshop would be useful in expanding coverage of the scheme and expressed their readiness to always support the Agency in any way that would lead to its successful implementation.

Various stakeholders participated in the workshop which include representatives from some of the Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs), media, Community Based Organisations (CBOs), Kannywood, People living with disability, communication experts and WDCs.

The 3-Days workshop held at The FABS Hotel Zaria in Kaduna State was facilitated by communication expert Salisu Durumin iya.
