The Jigawa State government, in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) and funded by the Global Fund Malaria project, successfully transported 6.8 million doses of SPAQ and over 3 million Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) to various local governments across the state.

During a field visit to local government areas, Alhaji Gali Iguda, manager of the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Jahun local government, expressed satisfaction with the transportation process.

He explained that 194,225 pieces of Insecticide Treated Nets, packed in 3,885 bales, were allocated to Jahun for the 2024 ITNs distribution exercise. The distribution will be conducted in 41 facilities under the two clusters of Aujara and Jahun, with 96 distribution points selected across eleven wards in the local government.

Iguda added that at the local government level, 41 adhoc staff members were engaged, including officers in charge of facilities (IOCs). Additionally, 548 community drug distributors (CDDs), 55 town announcers, 55 CDD supervisors, and a five-member team from the local government were involved.

Traditional leaders were engaged, and a two-day training exercise was conducted, divided into the two clusters of Aujara and Jahun, with 278 participants in each batch.

The PHC manager called on the local government area residents to cooperate and support the efforts for the successful 2024 SPAQ and ITNs distribution exercise.
