Following the insecurity challenge in some parts of Plateau State, food producing companies have decried low supply of raw materials in two major grain producing areas in the state.
The Group general manager Administration and Human Resources NASCO Shehu Nyalun,
disclosed this when a posthumous award was presented to the late Chairman and
chief executive officer of the NASCO, Attia Idris Nasreddin.
Our correspondent reports that Bokkos and Mangu LGAs of Plateau State are known to be the major markets of grains in the state and beyond. And due to the crisis that have ravaged those communities, farm produce were destroyed, making it a difficult for food producing companies like Nasco to access raw materials for production which he said has grossly affected supplies to consumers.
The manager called on the State Government to create an enabling environment for farmers to cultivate their farm lands in order to boost productivity.
He appreciated Sarkin Shuwa Arab, for the magnanimity and being thoughtful in recognizing them even when the Chairman has passed.
Earlier while presenting the posthumous award, Sarkin Shuwa Arab Plateau and Nasarawa State, Abdulaziz Haruna, said Nasreddin established NASCO group of companies with the intention of helping humanity.
The traditional ruler described the owner of NASCO companies as one who stood for unity, justice and socio- economic development.
“I can attest that he helped many of my people by employing alot of them to be able to fend for their family members. Even as I speak, some are still working here, and are doing very well, I wish we can have other organizations emulates what NASCO is doing for the development of this country, Nigeria”
He however added that through the company many in the state were employed irrespective of ethnic which has also curbed the level of unemployment in the state.
