New Jigawa CP Leads Crackdown on Crime, over 53 Suspects Arrested

In a swift display of resolve and commitment to combating crime, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Jigawa State, CP Ahmed T. Abdullahi, has announced the arrest of over 53 suspected criminals, including kidnappers, armed robbers, illegal arms manufacturers, human traffickers, and thieves.

CP Abdullahi made the announcement during his maiden press briefing held at the Police Headquarters in Dutse, Jigawa State. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the public in maintaining peace and security in the state.

“Through hard work, professionalism, and partnership, crime and criminality will be reduced to the minimum in the state,” CP Abdullahi asserted.

He appealed to Jigawa residents and other stakeholders to cooperate with the police by providing information and reporting any suspicious activities.

Highlighting the significant arrests made within a short period, CP Abdullahi revealed that three of the suspects are linked to the kidnapping of a businessman in Kwaimawa village, Dutse Local Government Area.

Additionally, ten suspects are alleged armed robbers, 25 are suspected thieves, three are suspected motor vehicle thieves, and three are suspected mobile phone thieves.

The CP also disclosed the arrest of suspected illegal arms manufacturers in Dutse Kwari village area of Ringim Local Government, two suspected human traffickers, and seven motorcycle thieves in Dutse, Maigatari, and Kazaure Local Governments.

The police operations have led to the recovery of three locally fabricated firearms, four motor vehicles, N3.6 million, nine Android handsets, vandalized armored cable wires, 32 cows, five sheep, 261 wraps of dry leaves of Indian hemp, sesame, millet, and groundnut valued at N450,000, among other items.

CP Abdullahi expressed his gratitude to the Jigawa State Government for its support and cooperation in the fight against crime. He also commended the officers and men of the Jigawa State Police Command for their dedication and hard work.
