Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Yobe for witnessing the start of 2025 in peace and harmony.
In a press statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs, Governor Buni reflected on 2024, describing it as generally successful despite challenges such as flood disasters and isolated security incidents.
He expressed gratitude to Allah (SWT) for allowing the people of Yobe to witness another year and prayed for improved security and economic prosperity for the state and the country at large.
The governor noted that despite the economic difficulties faced in the past year, his administration recorded significant achievements.
He highlighted the success of agricultural programs aimed at ensuring food sufficiency and security, as well as the provision of financial support to small and medium-scale entrepreneurs and cash grants to empower individuals, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic growth.
He also emphasized his government’s commitment to infrastructure development, including road construction, healthcare, and education.
Governor Buni reiterated Yobe’s role as a leader in livestock production, citing the establishment of the state’s Ministry of Livestock, the first of its kind after the federal government’s.
He stated that this initiative aligns with his administration’s holistic approach to agriculture, which seeks to revolutionize both crop and livestock farming to improve the state’s economy and enhance the well-being of its people.
Looking ahead to 2025, the governor assured that his administration is determined to complete all ongoing projects and initiate new ones.
He noted that the recently signed 2025 budget will facilitate the swift execution of these plans, ensuring that they benefit the people of Yobe.
Governor Buni commended the resilience and support of Yobeans, attributing the government’s achievements to their cooperation and trust.
He also praised security agencies and vigilante groups for their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state and pledged his administration’s continued support to further enhance stability.
The governor called on the people to sustain their cooperation with the government and security forces, emphasizing that their collective efforts are essential to building a more stable, socially cohesive, and economically prosperous Yobe State that everyone can be proud of.
