The national leadership of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has dissolved all structures of the party in Kano State from the state level down to local government and ward levels.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, announced this in a statement, explaining that the decision was made in line with the provisions of the NNPP constitution.
Johnson added that caretaker committees to oversee the party’s affairs temporarily would be announced soon.
The development comes amid internal crisis within the party, following reports that the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, is making plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move strongly opposed by the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
