The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Kano state Chapter on Tuesday introduced fees for prospective aspirants vying for elective positions in the forthcoming Council polls in the state.
Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, the state Chairman of the party told Reporters in Kano that prospective Chairmanship aspirants would pay half a million naira nomination fee, while expression of stands at N100,000.
Sulaiman Dungurawa said ” we have fixed N500,000 nominations fee for prospective Chairmanship aspirants, while the Expression of Interests form stands at N100,000.
The Chairman stated that “Similarly, we have also fixed N150,000 nominations Form fees for Councillors, while Expression of Interests is fixed at N50,000”.
Dungurawa revealed that in addition, the party has purchased WAEC scratch cards to verify academic records of prospective aspirants to detect infractions.
The Chairman stated that “We have purchased WEAC scratch cards to verify Academic records of aspirants, while we also relying on records from NDLEA to ascertain their drugs and criminal history”.
He said “We as People’s Party are fully conscious of the economic downturn occasioned by FG’s policies and the need to soften the ground for participatory democracy “.
The Chairman therefore directed interested Aspirants to resigned their Civil Service appointment by the end of August 2024, to enable them meets the deadline set by the State Electoral Commission KANSIEC guidelines.
Dungurawa said “We don’t want to create or leave a loopholes in our Party, that is why we have taken a drastic measures against anybody that is contesting and we want to gives to Kano Citizens People’s with a sound background who will help them out of their economic and social predicaments”.
