From Abdullahi Alhassan, Kaduna
The Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative, a good governance advocacy group, has rejected the Federal Government’s Tax Reform Bill currently before the National Assembly.
In a statement issued in Kaduna, the group’s Director-General, Dr. Abdullahi Idris, expressed concerns over the bill, stating that while certain aspects may have benefits, provisions related to the distribution of VAT revenue are unfair and could exacerbate economic challenges in northern Nigeria.
Dr. Idris called on the Tinubu administration to withdraw the bill immediately, warning that its implementation could undermine the region’s economic stability.
The Northern Star Youth Empowerment Initiative is a non-political, non-tribal, and non-religious movement dedicated to promoting unity, progress, and development in northern Nigeria.
The group emphasized its commitment to protecting the interests of the region and advocating for policies that ensure equitable governance.
