NPJ Kaduna Commends Mercy Corps for Promoting Responsible Journalism

The Network of Peace Journalists Kaduna (NPJ) has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Mercy Corps for organizing a transformative one-day training workshop on conflict-sensitive reporting for Nigerian media practitioners.
The workshop, which brought together journalists from various media organizations, aimed to equip them with the skills to mitigate conflicts through their reportage. Ibrahima Yakubu, Team Leader of NPJ Kaduna, praised Mercy Corps for their commitment to fostering a culture of peace through responsible journalism.
The training, guided by Mercy Corps, covered essential tools and methodologies for navigating and mitigating conflicts while adhering to the principle of “DO NO HARM” in reporting. The workshop also addressed digital peacebuilding strategies, equipping journalists with the skills to navigate online reporting responsibly.
NPJ Kaduna commended Mercy Corps for their dedication to addressing the evolving challenges posed by digital media and their invaluable contributions to peacebuilding journalism in Nigeria. The organization expressed its commitment to upholding the principles instilled during the workshop and leveraging their platforms to promote peace, understanding, and social cohesion.
Ibrahima Yakubu also thanked Danjuma Dawop, Chief of Party for Peace Action for Rapid and Transformative Nigerian Early Warning Response (PARTNER), for emphasizing the significance of the workshop and the importance of media practitioners in mitigating the negative impacts of social media on journalism and peace-building efforts.
