NSCDC Hands Over Recovered Equipment Stolen During Nationwide Protest in Kano

….Reaffirms Commitment to Protecting National Assets

In a significant development, the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully recovered and handed over multimillion-naira equipment stolen during a recent nationwide protest. The equipment, which belongs to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Kano State High Court, was retrieved from hoodlums who looted the items during the unrest.

The recovered items, including two Cisco switches valued at over ₦400 million, computer sets, air conditioners, executive chairs, doors and windows, a photocopy machine, as well as law and judicial publications, were handed over at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Kano. These items were stolen from the NCC’s Digital Industrial Park and the State High Court, both situated at the Audu Bako Secretariat Complex in Kano.

The handover was confirmed in a statement by SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, on Tuesday. The operation was led by the NSCDC’s Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) department, which acted swiftly to recover the stolen items shortly after they were taken.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the NCC’s Kano office, Mr. Aminu Suleiman Birnin Chido expressed gratitude and commended the Corps’ personnel for their gallant efforts in recovering the items. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the strong synergy and cordial relationship between the NCC and the NSCDC.

Similarly, representatives of the Kano State High Court praised the NSCDC for their act of patriotism and dedication to duty.

Commandant Mohammed Lawal Falala, who leads the Kano State Command, reiterated the Corps’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure within the state, ensuring the continued security of these essential resources.
