The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State has announced the arrest of a 24-year-old man, Amir Mohammed, suspected of attempted murder and armed robbery.
According to SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer for the NSCDC Kano Command, Mohammed was arrested following a brutal attack on a resident of the Federal Housing Estate in Sharada, Kano.
Mohammed, a resident of Ja’en in Gwale Local Government Area, allegedly broke into the home of Alhaji Mustafa Abubakar at midnight. During the attack, Mohammed reportedly inflicted multiple stab wounds on Abubakar and his family members, leaving them critically injured.
According to Abdullahi, the suspect targeted Abubakar’s neck, chest, and other sensitive areas in an attempt to kill and rob him.
The NSCDC investigation suggests Mohammed intended to steal Abubakar’s smartphone and laptop to access his bank accounts.
“The suspect had earlier entered the same compound 8 days previously and stole the victim’s two Sim Cards. The victim, on the day of the incident having sustained multiple degrees of injury was rushed to hospital for medical attention by the personnel of the Corps on security duties in the housing estate.
“The NSCDC Kano command is investigating the attempted murder and robbery case including trailing the suspect’s accomplice, one Abbas Danmama. After the Corps preliminary investigation the case will be transferred to the Nigerian Police for further investigation and necessary legal actions.”
