PDP Senator Empowers 900 Youth, Women with Goat Species in Jigawa

From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Senator representing Jigawa Southwest Senatorial District under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Mustapha Khabeeb, has empowered 900 youth and women in his constituency through the distribution of goats.

The empowerment program took place at the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Secretariat in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital. Senator Khabeeb, represented by the PDP Zonal Chairman for Jigawa Central, Hon. Idris Ilyasu Danlawan, said the initiative is part of his economic empowerment program aimed at supporting his constituents to enhance their economic activities and improve their livelihoods.

According to the senator, the beneficiaries underwent intensive training on animal husbandry before receiving the goats. They were educated on the selected goat species, their breeding process, and their economic benefits.

Speaking during the distribution, Senator Khabeeb emphasized his commitment to improving the livelihoods of women and youth, who form the majority of the population in his constituency.

He stated, “This initiative reflects our determination to improve the sources of income for our people, especially women, who are more vulnerable in these difficult economic times.”

He added, “Today, we are distributing 900 goats to 300 beneficiaries, comprising both men and women. Each person will receive three goats—two females and one male. This is a special breed of goats that gives birth to at least two offspring every six months. I am confident that in a few months, the beneficiaries will see their livestock multiply.”

Hon. Idris Ilyasu Danlawan noted that this is one of many empowerment initiatives executed by the senator, adding that similar programs would continue until all constituents benefit, regardless of their political affiliation.

The PDP State Secretary, Alhaji Isah Gwadayi, commended the senator for his efforts, describing the empowerment program as evidence of good and effective representation.

He remarked, “The performance of Senator Mustapha Khabeeb and other PDP representatives in the National Assembly has given the party and its leader, Alhaji Sule Lamido, a positive image, shielding them from criticism.”

He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity and avoid selling the goats, encouraging them to follow the professional instructions provided during the training.

Alhaji Gwadayi also called on the people of Jigawa and Nigeria at large to support the PDP in the upcoming 2027 elections, stating, “The PDP is the only party that truly understands the needs of the people, the state, and the nation.”
