The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) held a Post-Election Parley to review local governments election
with Political Parties,Media, Civil Society Organizations.

Said said the meeting was aimed at evaluating the October 9th, 2024 local government elections.
While disclosing this at the Odilin’s Events centre in Jos the Plateau capital, Cishak explained that the Parley also aimed to explore ways to improve future electoral process in the future.
The chairman while assuring the commission’s commitment to transparency and accountability, highlighted the steps taken to ensure credible elections, including extensive stakeholder consultations, voters awareness campaigns, and the training of over 22,000 personnel.
According to him,the election featured innovative measures, such as the pilot testing of PLASIEC Voter Verification System in selected wards and showcasing PLASIEC’s drive for modernization.
He said the parley invited constructive feedback to enhance future electoral practices, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in building an inclusive and transparent democracy.
On his part, Secretary to the Government of the State, Arch Samuel Jatau, commanded PLASIEC for conducting peaceful and a credible elections.
While urging for recognition of popular candidates irrespective of political affiliations, called for the need for fairness and inclusivity.
The SGS further encouraged stakeholders to use the review session as a platform to identify successes and address gaps, reiterating the state government’s support for strengthening democratic practices.
On his part, Chief Latep Dabang and Adviser Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Political Parties and a key stakeholder stated that, there was need for critical role of transparency in governance, especially in local elections.
He highlighted the issues of political manipulation and one-party dominance and advocated for collaboration between governments and international bodies to foster unity and democratic governance.
He underscored the importance of integrity and perseverance, and urged the leaders to prioritize fairness and responsibility to build trust in electoral systems.
While commending PLASIEC for a successful elections in the state, Chairman NUJ Plateau State Council, Ayuku Pwaspo, thank Journalists for performing their duties credibly devoid the dwindling economy.
