Police Arrest Wife, Associates of Wanted Chadian Terrorist in Kano

By Abdullahi Yusuf

The Kano State Police Command has arrested the wife and other associates of a suspected terrorist, Ahmad Adam Abba, a Chadian national wanted for orchestrating the killing of 17 people in Chad.

Addressing journalists on Friday, the Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, revealed that Abba—who remains at large—was also planning to establish a terrorist base in Kano.

Garba stated that three of Abba’s associates had been apprehended, including his wife, another Chadian identified as Jibrin Mohammed, and a Nigerian.

“Acting on intelligence, we recovered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) while discreet investigations continue. The wanted Chadian terrorist has fled Nigeria, but we have successfully arrested three of his associates,” he said.

The commissioner emphasized that the command has intensified intelligence gathering and is collaborating with other security agencies and local communities to identify potential threats.

“Our teams are working closely with intelligence agencies and community members to detect and prevent security threats,” he said, adding that patrols, surveillance, and other security measures have been strengthened in vulnerable areas.

Garba also reiterated the importance of public cooperation in crime prevention, stating that the command’s public relations unit would continue to educate citizens on reporting suspicious activities.

“Building trust between the police and the public is crucial in preventing crime and addressing security challenges,” he added.
