Police bursts terrorists syndicate in Zamfara

... Recovers Two (2) AK 47 Rifles, 104 rounds of live ammunition and two Magazines for AK 47 and Bunch of Charms.

The Zamfara state Police Command has disclosed that over the week, the command has successfully repelled bandits attack on a community in Gusau and Maru LGAs.

The Police Tactical operatives while on confidence building patrol along Gusau – Magami – Dansadau Road on the 1st of January 2023, received a distress call about bandits plan to block the road and attack commuters and by extension some villages.

In a statement issued to PRIME TIME NEWS by the Command’s spokes person SP. Muhammad Shehu on Wednesday, the Police operatives mobilized to the locations and engaged the bandits to a serious gun battle.

Adding that, Luckily enough, one of the bandits was neutralised and others were repelled by the superior fire power of the Police operatives, as such they retreated back to the forest with possible gun shot wounds.

“Two AK 47 Rifles, Two Magazines, 104 round of live ammunition and bunch of charms belonging to the bandits were recovered at the scene” Shehu noted.

 

Live ammunitions hidden in sack

In another development by the Command, the spokesperson added that, Police Tactical operatives while on confidence building patrol/ Stop and Search acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of two suspected bandits for kidnapping and cattle rustling in Zamfara, Katsina and Niger and other States in the North.

Shehu gave names of the suspects as Umaru Buba aged 21 Yrs Old of Baburasa Village in Kainji LGA of Niger State and Babuga Manu aged 20 Yrs Old of same address.

“The suspects further confessed of belonging to the gang of Bello Turji where they took part in the kidnapping of unspecified number of victims in which millions of Naira were collected as ransom” he added.

The Command also on the 1st January, 2023 about 1:30 pm, arrested one Musbahu Aminu aged 30 Yrs Old of Yabawa Village in Maradun LGA, who is a gang member of notorious kingpin Halilu Kachalla for banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling via while on Confidence building patrol/Stop and Search.

“The suspect further confessed of participating in several kidnapping and cattle rustling where millions of Naira were paid by victims relations as ransom”

Meanwhile in a separate development, the Command on 2nd January, 2023 at about 12: 15 pm, while on rigorous patrol along Gusau – Tsafe Road arrested one Abu Umaru aged 25 Yrs Old of Doka Village in Gusau LGA. on motorcycle coming out of the forest.

Umaru confessed to confessed of belonging to a gang of Bandits operating in Mada, Wonaka, Yandoto and Tsafe under their gang Commander Malam Tukur.

SP. Shehu revealed that, the recent abduction they carried out was on 1st January 2023 at about 7 pm where they blocked two vehicles along Gusau – Tsafe highway by Yandoto village and kidnapped Nine persons including three (3) women and two (2) children.

The Spokesperson disclosed that on 3rd, January, 2023, the Police Tactical Operatives acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of a notorious bandits informant who gives information to Bandits operating in Kaura Namoda, B/Magaji , Zurmi and Shinkafi LGAs

“Discreet investigation is in progress, all the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution on completion of investigation”Shehu noted.

SP. Muhammad Shehu noted that the State Commissioner of Police appreciates the good people of Zamfara State for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation.

Adding that, the CP reiterates the Command’s continuous determination to sustain the tempo of raiding criminal hideouts and black spots across the state to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in Zamfara State is achieved.
