Police Command Develops Action Plan To Combat Crime Resurgence In Kano

The Police Command in Kano State says it has developed an Action Plan to address the resurging spate of crimes in the state.
The new Commissioner of Police in the state,Mr Salman Dogo Garba, announced this during his maiden press conference at the command’s Headquarters in Kano on Wednesday.
“I assumed duty at a time when the State is a talk of the day and confronted with spate of security challenges, including the resurgence of thuggery(Daba) activities in some parts of Kano metropolis.
“We have already developed an action plan that revolves around collaborative policing,after carefully studying the trend of the crime pattern,” Garba said.
He said in line with the directive,vision and mission of the Inspector General of Police,the Kano State Police Command under his supervision would be committed to creating a safe and more secure environment “where residents can thrive, businesses can flourish and visitors can feel welcomed to the state.”
To achieve this,he said, the command had mapped out strategies namely: Robust Community Policing Engagements; Synergy With Other Security Agencies And Community Stakeholders;Use of Technology in Investigations and Operations; Professionalism and Accountability and Strategic Communication in Public Enlightenment and Sensitization.
The Commissioner promised to support, guide and empower officers of the command “so that we collectively work together, combat crimes, maintain law and order,and also ensure that peace and stability prevail in the state.”
He commended the outstanding achievements of his predecessor,AIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel, whose dedication and leadership style he said, had raised the bar of policing in the state.
He appealed to the Government and people of the state for their support, assistance and cooperation so as to collectively address the security concerns in the state.
