The Borno State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Sabon Gari Lassa, Askira Uba Local Government Area, arresting three suspects and recovering a locally made pistol, intelligence sources have confirmed.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on February 20, when four armed men stormed the residence of Mohammed Abubakar, a resident of Sabon Gari Lassa, with the intent to abduct him. However, the victim resisted the attack and engaged the assailants with a cutlass, forcing them to flee.
Following a distress call from the victim at about 6:00 a.m., a combined team of police officers and local vigilantes launched an operation, tracing the suspects’ footprints to a nearby hideout.
The operation led to the swift arrest of three suspects, identified as: Salisu Hussain, Buhari Hussaini and Umar Bello. All suspects are residents of Gajali Village in Askira Uba LGA.
A locally made pistol was recovered from the suspects, while an investigation is ongoing to track down the remaining accomplices and determine their possible links to other criminal activities in the area.
The Borno State Police Command has commended the swift response of security operatives and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to law enforcement agencies.
