Police Seals Venue For Anti Corruption Lecture In Kano

Kano police Command on Thursday sealed the venue slated to celebrate 2021 International anti corruption day in the ancient city.

It was not immediately clear whether the organisers obtained permit to hold the lecture in a city whose fragile security was stretched to breakable limit recently by armed thugs.

The annual event organised by Concerned Citizen of Kano state ran into hitch when police officers appeared at the rented venue and ordered participants to dispersed.

Hundreds of youth had gathered at Leena event centre located along Muhammadu Buhari way opposite Yusuf Maitama Sule University at Kabuga General area where the immediate past Chairman, Kano Anti Corruption Agency, Muhuyi Magaji-Rimingado was billed to speak.

The youth have invited the former chairman of Kano state Anti corruption commission Muhuyi Magaji to give a pep talk on the corruption war in Nigeria.

Hauwwa Adamu, one of the participants told Reporters in Kano that we are at the venue when suddenly some young officers appeared and directed us to disperse”

Miss Adamu explained that the law enforcement officers told the disappointed participants their actions was precipitated an order from the state CID.

Hauwwa Adamu added that some staff of the Nigeri security and civil defence accompanied the officers who sealed the venue.

When contacted for comment, the police public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said he was not aware of the incident.

DSP Kiyawa pledged to investigate and get back , but as at the time of going to press, nothing was heard from him.
