President Ahmed Tinubu Declares 9th Edition of National Youth Games Open

President Bola Tinubu has officially declared open, the 9th edition of the National youth games in Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Tinubu, who was represented at the event by the Special Adviser on media and communication to the president, Mr Sunday Dare said Mr President has recognized sports as one of the bowl to hold national unity.

He said over six thousand young athletes male and female from 15 years downward are to compete in 37 different sporting events.

Dare thanks the the Delta Governor and the government of Delta State that serve as the headquarters of sports competition in Nigeria.

Speaking during the event Governor of Delta State His Excellency Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.OvOborevwori, represented by Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Speaker Delta State House of Assembly described the event as a celebration of Nigeria’s youth, unity, and future.

The Chairman of the Main Organising Committee and Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, described the Youth Games as an evenue for grassroots talent.

Other dignitaries were the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Mr Onoriode Oborevwori, Kano State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso

The National Youth Games was established in 2013 to serve as an avenue for talent discovery and provide national unity.
