President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s security agencies for their tireless efforts in securing the release of 100 students of Papiri Catholic School in Niger State.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to Onanuga, the President expressed joy over the safe return of the students and charged the security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining 115 students and their teachers still held hostage.

“I have been briefed on the safe return of 100 students from the Catholic School in Niger State. I rejoice with Governor Umar Bago and commend our security agencies for their steadfast work in ensuring the safe return of the students to their families since the unfortunate incident on November 21,” President Tinubu said.

He added that the President assured the parents that both the Federal and Niger State Governments are working closely to reunite all abducted students with their families.

The President further directed all security agencies, in collaboration with state governors, to take proactive measures to prevent future abductions while ensuring that all abducted Nigerians across the country are rescued and brought home safely.

“Our children should no longer be sitting ducks for heartless terrorists intent on disrupting their education and subjecting them and their parents to unspeakable trauma,” he added.

President Tinubu also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to working with state governments to secure schools and make learning environments safer and more conducive for Nigerian students.
