Sen. Binos Donates Solar Kiosks, Kits to 250 Trainees in Adamawa

From Umar Dankano, Yola

A five-day intensive training on solar technology for 250 youths from Adamawa’s Southern Senatorial District has concluded, aiming to promote solar power as an alternative energy source in the state.

The training, held from September 24 to 28, was sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, in partnership with Roteddy Resource Ltd. and Ajagba Nigeria Ltd. Participants were drawn from nine local government areas in the district.

At the closing ceremony, solar-powered kiosks were awarded to the nine top trainees, and each participant received a solar kit worth ₦85,000, along with certificates of attendance.

Speaking at the event in Numan LGA, Engineer Taoreed Bayo Ibrahim, one of the technical experts, highlighted the importance of the training in addressing Nigeria’s electricity challenges.

He stressed the need to harness the country’s abundant natural resources and equip youths with solar technology skills, especially in the face of national grid failures.

“This training provides job opportunities and keeps the youth productive, preventing idleness. I commend Senator Binos for his commitment to making this program a success,” Ibrahim said.

Senator Binos expressed satisfaction with the participants’ performance, urging them to apply their new skills to benefit themselves and their communities.

He explained that the solar kiosks given to the best trainees would help them establish their businesses, eliminating the need for power from traditional distribution companies.

The senator emphasized that his motivation for initiating the training was to combat poverty and idleness in his district, not for personal recognition.

Encouraged by the success of a previous batch of 50 trainees, some of whom have secured jobs and scholarships, Senator Binos promised to continue supporting such empowerment programs.

He added that the selection of beneficiaries was free from tribal, religious, or political bias, focusing solely on equipping the younger generation for a brighter future.
