Sen Yari pledges support for education in Zamfara

Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has pledged support for children’s education especially who come from very poor family through his foods distribution Committee across the state.
Yari, who made this known at his Talata Mafara residence Thursday while hosting the teeming members of foods distribution Committee from the 147 wards of the 14 local government areas of the state, said the newly conceived idea will search households to identify children that need education support.
He emphasized that, more attention is needed to address the lingering security challenges which apart from massive job creation that is believed would contain the teeming jobless youths, then a dire need to bridge the gaps between the literate and illiterate, rich and poor respectively.
Senator Yari further informed that, having noticing the threatening number of Out of School Children in the state, henceforth, the Committee will serve a dual purpose including foods distribution to the neediest households and searches for identification of children who have been prevented by poverty from going to schools.
“We will sponsor the number of identified Out of School children to facilitate their return to schools and ensure enrollment of those who have never attended the schools yet.
“Initially, I established the foods distribution Committee selected members from 147 wards of the state with a view to take food packages to the doorstep of very poor classes irrespective of political or religious differences to cushion their bitter lives especially under the current economic difficulties.
“The Committee was able to distribute 358 trucks of assorted grains which included rice, millet, maize and sugar, as well as clothing for Sallah celebrations to 250 households and the teeming orphans for the 2024 Ramadan with hope to double the number of beneficiaries during the 2025 Ramadan.
