Skills acquisition panacea to street begging- Ganduje’s wife

The wife of Kano state governor, Prof. Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje has described provision of skills acquisition training as the solution to problem of street begging in the state.

She stated this during the Graduation Ceremony of persons living with Disability who were trained different trait, held at Dorayi Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center in Kano on Tuesday.

The First Lady, who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Zahara’u Muhammad said the menace of street begging is a disturbing issue, expressing the need to provide measures in order to address the problem.

She said the state government has been according all the needed support and logistics to people living with disability, aimed at making them self reliant.

Mrs Ganduje therefore appealed to wealthy individuals in the state to invest in training people living with disability in a bid to address their challenges.

In a remark, the Executive Secretary of Kano state Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Sale Ali Jili said the 26 people living with disabilities were selected from 26 local government areas, adding that they were trained on various skills.

He said the agency is planning to train another set of people living with disabilities, stressing that the gesture would play a great role in addressing the menace of street begging in the state.
