Stakeholders Engagement: YSCHMA Meets Enrollees, Others in Fika LGA

…Assures Improved Service Delivery

The Management Team of Yobe State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (YSCHMA) led by the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Babagana Tijjani has on Tuesday, the 3rd of September 2024 begun its LGA town hall meeting with Stakeholders and enrollees who are beneficiaries of the various YSCHMA contributory health scheme in the state.

In a press statement signed by Suleiman Gambo Yusuf (Bakoro) information and public relations officer of YSCHMA said, During the meeting, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Babagana Tijjani assured the beneficiaries of Improved Health Care service delivery across the state.

Dr Babagana Tijjani explained that the meeting was part of efforts to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to the enrollees towards achieving universal health coverage in the state by the year 2030.

The ES said, “This town hall meeting with enrollees and stakeholders is in line with the continuous efforts of the agency towards providing wider sensitization and engagement with beneficiaries of the various YSCHMA health schemes to understand the roles of all stakeholders involved including YSCHMA, health facilities, and beneficiaries.”

The Executive Secretary informed participants at the meeting that with the new YSCHMA service tariffs and drug price lists, enrollees should expect better and improved healthcare service delivery in YSCHMA-accredited and engaged health facilities across the state.

The Director of Programme of the agency, Ahmed Mustapha has while outlining the objectives of the townhall meeting stated that it was meant to deepen the understanding of enrollees on YSCHMA health schemes, retrieve feedback from beneficiaries, remind enrollees of their rights and privileges as well as the role of healthcare facilities under YSCHMA contributory health scheme among others.

Highlights of the event is the presentation of multiple copies of a guide for enrollees and stakeholders on the operations of various YSCHMA programmes to YSCHMA enrollees, stakeholders and health care providers by the agency’s Director of Programme, Ahmed Mustapha on behalf of the executive secretary of the agency as well as detailed pragmatic presentations on YSCHMA contributory health scheme implementation in the state by various resource persons at the event.

In their separate goodwill messages, some participants who spoke at the meeting applauded the state government under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni for the establishment of YSCHMA and other agencies under the state ministry of health.

One of the participants at the town hall meeting, Idrissa Muhammad Bah said, “One of the best things that has ever happened to the state in recent time is the establishment of the state contributory healthcare management agency.

“The coming of YSCHMA to the state has replaced the usual out of pocket expenditure for civil servants who have enrolled themselves into the YSCHMA contributory health scheme and others who are beneficiaries of various YSCHMA health schemes.”

Stakeholders at the town hall meeting includes Chairman Fika local government, Hon. Audu Bukar Gadaka represented by Head of Admin of the LGA, Malam Sani Garba Madugu, PHC Director, Fika LGA Primary Health Care Authority, Ahmed Usman, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Fika LGA branch, Comrade Dauda Yabani, the chairman, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Fika LGA branch.

Other personalities in the list are, Comrade Musa Ba’aba, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Fika LGA branch represented by Comrade Saidu Makau, UNICEF representative, Mr. Obidah Samuel and health facility managers amongst others.
