Ahead of the judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the case filed by the APC against the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, hundreds of supporters of the NNPP on Saturday held special prayers in Kano, asking God to “to defeat the enemies of the people.”
The party’s faithful were led by the NNPP’s national leader and Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections, Sen.Rabi’u Kwankwaso, in attending the prayers which were held at the Filin Mahaha in the state capital.
Also in attendance were Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Baffa Bichi, and other top government functionaries.
Dr Sani Hashir who led the prayers said, “We prayed here today to express our thanks to Allah for granting us victory in the 2023 general elections, and for keeping our communities safe, for keeping our state secure and for keeping our country safe.”
“In Kano state today, we are blessed with leaders that have started changing the landscape of the state, with pipe borne water running in all parts of the state, street lights have been restored and hospitals are being renovated and equipped.”
He also said that schools were being renovated, while assistance and support were “being extended to the most vulnerable in our communities and Auren Zawarawa (Mass marriage) has reached an advanced stage of preparations.”
The Imam also noted that the NNPP government in the state was paying the registration fees of over seven thousand indigent students of Bayero University, Kano whom are Kano indigenes while roads are being rehabilitated.
“Refuse dumps are disappearing from our streets, and over fifty-seven thousand students were registered for NECO at a cost of about N1.3 billion by this administration.”
“However, despite all these efforts before the hundred days of this Government in office, enemies of the people are scheming and planning to undermine our leaders.”
He prayed God to “defeat the enemies of the people” whom he said were “trying to steal the mandate of the people through the back door.”
