Tribunal sets date to deliver judgment on Lagos Governorship election

The Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has officially scheduled a date for the announcement of its judgment regarding the petitions filed in the aftermath of the 2023 election.

The eagerly awaited verdict will be delivered on Monday, September 25.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, shared this update on Saturday through a post on social media platform X.

In his post, he conveyed the message he received, stating, “We have just been informed that judgment on our election petition at the tribunal will be delivered on Monday, the 25th of September.”

Rhodes-Vivour, along with Abdul-Azeez Adediran, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), jointly approached the tribunal with their respective petitions.

Their petitions cite various allegations, including electoral fraud, and request the tribunal to invalidate the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who ran under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner.

Both parties are vying for a declaration of victory in the election.
