By Hajara Abdullahi

The Nigerian Army troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation MESA, led by the 3 Brigade, have successfully prevented a bandit incursion and attack in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday.

According to a statement posted on the official X handle of the Nigerian Army, Babatunde Zubairu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations Department, said the troops received credible intelligence around 5:00 p.m. on November 1, 2025, about the movement of bandits around Unguwan Tudu, Unguwan Tsamiya, and the Goron Dutse axis of Shanono LGA.

“The troops of 3 Brigade, supported by other security agencies, raided the bandits and pushed them out of Shanono, resulting in a heavy firefight. It was further confirmed that the bandits, who sustained several casualties, arrived on motorcycles,” the statement reads.

Babatunde added that the troops deployed at Unguwar Tsaure swiftly responded, leading to the death of 19 bandits, two soldiers, and one local vigilante during the exchange of fire.

General Ahmed Tukur, Commander of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, assured Nigerians of the military’s commitment, in collaboration with other security agencies, to maintaining peace and security in the state.

The statement concluded that further operations aimed at protecting vulnerable communities prone to bandit attacks and cattle rustling are ongoing. “The Nigerian Army urges citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities,” it added.
