Kylian Mbappe has been advised to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after the club’s defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Ligue 1 giants lost the round of 16 game 1-0 at home and faced a daunting task in the second leg in Germany. Despite Lionel Messi and other players creating chances, PSG were defeated 3-0 on aggregate after goals from Eric Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry.
Football pundit Jamie Carragher expressed his delight at PSG’s exit and criticized the club’s set-up, calling it a “mess.” Carragher also urged Mbappe to leave the club.
“I’m delighted PSG have gone out, I just don’t like the whole set-up, everything about it,” Carragher said on CBS Sports.
“It’s not a team, it’s just a mess. Honestly, Kylian Mbappe has got to leave that club.”
The call for Mbappe to leave PSG is likely to intensify speculation about his future.
The 22-year-old’s contract with the club is set to expire in 2022, and there have been rumors that he could be eyeing a move to Real Madrid. PSG have reportedly offered Mbappe a lucrative new contract to try to keep him at the club, but he has yet to sign an extension.
Mbappe’s departure from PSG would be a major blow to the team’s ambitions, as he is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world. However, it remains to be seen whether he will heed Carragher’s advice and seek a new challenge elsewhere.
