Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has called on Himma Radio and Television to intensify efforts in producing impactful programmes that will promote agricultural and livestock development across the state.

According to Yola, the Commissioner made the call during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Managing Director of Himma Radio and Television, Alhaji Isma’il Yusuf Makwarari, to his office in Kano.
Comrade Waiya, who described the new Managing Director as a long-time associate and a dedicated media professional, urged him to prioritize high-quality, informative content that will bring together key stakeholders in the agricultural value chain including farmers, herders, food sellers, and consumers to boost the sector’s growth.
“Invite experts and professionals in agriculture to educate farmers on modern farming and livestock techniques, and ensure that the rights of consumers are protected to improve food accessibility in the state,” Waiya advised.
He assured Himma Radio/TV of the Kano State Government’s readiness to support the station through sponsorship of agricultural programmes that serve the interest of farmers, herders, and the general public.
Comrade Waiya further pledged to facilitate strategic collaboration between Himma Radio/TV and relevant ministries and agencies such as Agriculture, Water Resources, Rural Development, and others concerned with boosting food production and sustainability in the state.
While congratulating Alhaji Makwarari on his well-deserved appointment, the Commissioner commended his professionalism, work ethic, and strong connection with the public, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the station toward greater service to the people.
In his remarks, Alhaji Isma’il Yusuf Makwarari appealed to the state government to consider the sponsorship of agriculture and livestock-oriented programmes, stressing that the station was established primarily to serve farmers and herders. He reiterated Himma’s commitment to working closely with key ministries and institutions, including those of Agriculture, Water Resources, Education, and Rural Development.
Makwarari expressed deep appreciation to the Commissioner for his unwavering support to journalists and media organizations in the state. He also announced the appointment of Comrade Waiya as an Ambassador of Himma Radio and Television and presented him with a gift as a mark of appreciation for his consistent encouragement.
In separate goodwill messages, Councillor of Sheshe Ward, Hon. Abba Memai, and Alhaji Mahmuda Zakari, who spoke on behalf of people of Makwarari, expressed delight over his appointment. They thanked the Commissioner for the warm reception and the long-standing support he has extended to their son and the media community.
