To mark the International Day of the Girl Child, the White Heart Development Initiative (WHDI) has unveiled a new empowerment program titled “Dear Girls with Deejah – The Growing Girls Series.” The initiative is designed to engage and support adolescent girls through interactive learning and mentorship.
Executive Director of WHDI, Hajiya Khadija Aliyu Ammani, announced the launch during the maiden session held with students from public schools. The interactive discussion focused on menstrual hygiene in a healthy environment, climate awareness, career guidance, self-confidence, and personal development.
The Dear Girls with Deejah series is structured as a safe, supportive space where adolescent girls can learn, share experiences, and grow beyond the classroom. Sessions will hold twice a month across selected schools, addressing issues that affect girls’ physical, mental, and environmental well-being.
The program aims to equip girls with knowledge, confidence, and a sense of purpose while promoting environmental sustainability through proper menstrual hygiene management.
Overall, the initiative aligns with WHDI’s broader mission to build confident, informed, and environmentally conscious girls who can drive positive change in their communities, said Khadija.
