From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
The Yobe State Government, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, has reiterated its commitment to prioritizing social support through empowerment schemes and training for youths, women, and other segments of the population. This initiative aims to alleviate the current socio-economic difficulties faced by people across the country.
Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, stated this during a press conference in Damaturu. He emphasized that the state government will also prioritize community engagement through local government councils, traditional institutions, and other relevant stakeholders. The goal is to ensure that people across the state are fully informed about government policies and programs and are actively involved in their implementation.
These priorities were outlined during a meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Government House in Damaturu. The meeting included chairmen of local government councils, the 14 emirs of the state, and other senior government officials, including the deputy governor, the secretary to the state government, the head of service, the chief of staff to the governor, and some members of the state executive council.
The meeting emphasized the need for local government and traditional councils to continue addressing local and community issues in a manner that strengthens trust, good neighborliness, and community cohesion.
Additionally, the meeting stressed the importance of providing more opportunities for skills and craft training to support young people interested in establishing small or medium-sized businesses or engaging in agriculture and food production.
The state government was commended for its empowerment support to women and youths, particularly the recent multi-billion-naira agriculture empowerment program launched by the President, represented by the Vice President. The meeting urged the state government to ensure that the items reach the intended beneficiaries across the 17 local government areas.
Lastly, the meeting called on the people to remain law-abiding and continue to pray to Almighty Allah (SWT) for the security, peace, and prosperity of the state and the nation as a whole.
