Yobe Deputy Governor Honoured with Nigeria Soccer’s Ambassador Award 2025

Yobe State Deputy Governor, His Excellency Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), has been honoured with the Nigeria Soccer’s Ambassador Award 2025 by the Miss Football Nigeria Pageant. The award, presented in recognition of his outstanding contributions to football and sports development, celebrates him as the Best Deputy Governor of the Year in Football.

The Miss Football Nigeria initiative, launched in 2015 at the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja, promotes girl-child education, female participation in sports, and the redefinition of Nigerian football through entertainment and advocacy.

At the award ceremony, the Deputy Governor was represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Bello Kawuwa. In his remarks, the commissioner highlighted the multifaceted objectives of the Miss Football Nigeria project, which include youth empowerment, job creation, skills development, and the promotion of moral values and discipline among young women.

Prof. Kawuwa commended the organisers and the National Sports Council for recognising the Deputy Governor’s efforts and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to fostering sports as a tool for development and social impact.

The event marks another milestone in Yobe State’s growing reputation for encouraging grassroots sports and youth engagement across the region.
