Yobe Governor Calls for Strict Traffic Law Enforcement Following Tragic Accident

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has directed road traffic agencies to enforce strict compliance with traffic laws, particularly during the festive season.

The directive followed a fatal road accident along the Bayari-Geidam federal highway, which claimed several lives.

In a statement issued by Mamman Mohammed, Director General of Press and Media Affairs, Governor Buni described the incident as a devastating loss for the families and the state.

The governor extended his condolences to the bereaved families, praying for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones to bear the loss.

Governor Buni tasked the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Yobe Road Traffic Agency (YOROTA), and the Vehicle Inspection Department to ensure only qualified drivers and roadworthy vehicles operate on state roads.

“Road traffic unions must collaborate to ensure safety by preventing underage drivers, overloaded vehicles, and unfit automobiles from using the roads,” he stated.

He urged traffic agencies and stakeholders to prioritize road safety to avoid further tragedies, emphasizing that adherence to traffic laws is critical for safeguarding lives.
