The Yobe State government has signed a memorandum of understanding with 4 investors to explore the state’s solid mineral resources, the MOUs between the state government and local and international investors were meant to foster collaboration, resource development, and industrial growth.
Signing the agreement on behalf of the State government, the Managing Director of the Yobe State Mining Development Company Limited (YMDCL) Engr. Bamodu Yerima, said the MOUs will help the state to explore partnerships and investment opportunities in Yobe’s burgeoning mining sector.
He said the state has potential to transform Yobe into a hub of solid mineral exploitation and processing in Northern Nigeria.
According to him, the state is positioning itself as a frontier for sustainable mineral exploitation, economic diversification, and inclusive development, and also the company authorised to coordinate and regulate all exploration and mining activities across the state.
He described the company as the government’s designated One-Stop-Shop for the mining sector.
The four investors signed the MOUs with the state government are; GeoScan Technology Limited, Revolve Mining Company, Deep Strata and Minepro and Energy.
Speaking, one of the investors, Mr Ulrich Eichhorn, the Founder/CEO of Geoscan Technology Limited, said the company has partnered with the Yobe government to explore the state’s solid mineral resources and the partnership was aims to advance solid minerals exploration, exploration and judicious use of revenue.
Eichhorn, expressed readiness to honour the terms of the agreements. He said the company was into exploration providing arial scanning and geospatial services to the mining industry, including geological mapping, volume calculation and environmental impact of mining activities.
According to him, providing accurate and reliable data using Artificial Intelligence (AI), the firm was helping mining companies to optimise their operations, reduce cost and improve environmental sustainability.
