Yobe SWAN Patron to Host Members in Damaturu for Enhanced Interactions

The Yobe State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has received praise for its commitment to advancing sports development through effective sports reporting within the state.

During a recent virtual congress meeting on the “Yobe SWAN” platform, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Bade and Deputy Chairman of the Yobe State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Mai Abubakar Suleiman II, commended the association for its efforts in promoting growth and development in sports.

The Emir expressed his intention to host members in Damaturu and participate in future discussions to contribute to the development of sports in the state and the nation as a whole.

The meeting also saw the attendance of the NUJ Yobe State Chairman, Comrade Rajab Mohammed Ismael, and Secretary Alhassan Sule Mamudo, who pledged their support to ensure the successful implementation of the association’s programs and activities in the state.

Comrade Ismael assured the provision of a suitable office space for SWAN at the State NUJ Secretariat following ongoing renovations.

Chairman of the Yobe SWAN chapter, Barrister Joel Duku, expressed gratitude for the support received from members and stakeholders, including the Emir of Bade, emphasizing his commitment to fostering positive contributions to the association’s growth and development during his tenure.

He urged stakeholders in the sports sector and the public to support the renovation of the SWAN office, damaged in a recent incident, to provide members with a conducive work environment.

Among the topics discussed at the congress meeting were resolutions from the Kano SWAN full council meeting, renovation plans for the SWAN office at the State Sports Council, and membership registration processes.

The Yobe State SWAN Chapter also reaffirmed its support for the administration of President Isaiah Kemje Benjamin at the national level, demonstrating solidarity and backing for the leadership.

The association looks forward to continued collaboration and progress in promoting sports journalism and development in Yobe State.”
