The people of Gurjiyaje and Maluri villages in Fika LGA of Yobe State were left traumatized after Fulani herdsmen invaded their communities.
According to report from the areas saying that, invading herdsmen who were on reprisal mission against the villagers following an alleged push back by the communities when their water melon farm were encroached on by cattles belonging to the Fulani herdsmen.
Reports said that the invading herdsmen stormed the communities on motorcycles with most of them carrying bows and arrows as well as marchets.
Though casualties are still uncertain, the invading herdsmen succeeded in burning down several housing units in the areas as the reports said.
Another Sources said the initial altercation between the herdsmen and farmers in the communities happened in January when the cattle destroyed the water melon farms in the areas.
It was learnt that the herdsmen who claimed that some of their cattle were rustled by the farmers vowed to teach the communities the lessons of their lives.
Meanwhile the reports said that, the commissioner of police Yobe State command has since deployed the larges number of police personal to maintain peace and prevent further escalation of situations.
